Manitou Mezzer 2.0 MTB Forks Ride Trail to Gravity on Light & Adjustable Long Travel
Summary By: eMotoX
Manitou has unveiled the Mezzer 2.0, an evolution of its distinctive 37mm-stanchion enduro fork, designed to cater to a broader range of mountain biking disciplines. The key innovation lies in splitting the Mezzer into two distinct platforms: a lighter chassis aimed at racers and a more robust long-travel (LT) chassis for riders seeking greater stiffness and travel, particularly those who ride aggressively in bikeparks. This approach addresses previous compromises in weight and stiffness by offering riders the choice to prioritise either performance or durability without sacrificing the fork’s hallmark travel adjustability.
The Mezzer 2.0 maintains the signature reverse arch design, which contributes to its stiffness and reduced weight compared to competitors with larger stanchions. Travel remains adjustable in 10mm increments, with the Pro and Expert models covering 140-170mm, while the LT versions extend from 150-190mm or even 140-190mm depending on the spec. Internally, the fork benefits from a new Active Spring Piston (ASP) that incorporates a light coil spring to reduce seal stiction, enhancing small-bump sensitivity and making the initial travel feel smoother. This technology, inspired by innovations from DT Swiss, significantly improves compliance on rough terrain.
Damping has also been upgraded with the MC2 Pro-X cartridge, which offers a wider adjustment range and independent high- and low-speed rebound controls, alongside hydraulic bottom-out protection. The fork utilises an air-backed bladder system to maintain consistent oil pressure and reduce cavitation, improving damping precision and reducing internal friction. Manitou has further refined the fork’s mechanical reliability with the introduction of the Micromanager Bushing Alignment (MBA) system, which ensures perfect alignment of the stanchions, lowers, and bushings. This innovation prevents the common issue of dropout misalignment that can cause friction and premature wear, achieved through precise manufacturing and a new red insert at the dropout.
Visually, the Mezzer 2.0 remains understated, with subtle branding and a polished silver crown on the top-tier models, aligning with Manitou’s low-key aesthetic. The fork’s versatility, enhanced adjustability, and improved small-bump sensitivity make it a compelling option for enduro riders and gravity enthusiasts alike. By offering two tailored platforms within the Mezzer family, Manitou has expanded its appeal, allowing riders to dial in a fork that better suits their style and terrain demands without compromise.
