Colorado-based Wheels Manufacturing has introduced the Hootin’ Hauler Starter Kit, a versatile and affordable modular accessory platform designed for gravel and trail cyclists. Launching in time for the 2026 Unbound Gravel race, the kit features a low-profile mount that fits beneath a water bottle cage, providing a base for attaching various tools and storage solutions. Priced at just $15, the starter kit includes the base mount and a Trail Scraper tool, specifically designed to clear mud and debris from critical bike components such as jockey wheels, brake calipers, and chainrings, addressing common issues faced in muddy conditions. The Trail Scraper was developed from practical experience on muddy gravel races and remote bikepacking routes, where riders often struggle with mud buildup that can severely impair bike performance. Its design targets tight spaces where mud accumulation can cause mechanical failures, making it a potentially invaluable tool for participants at Unbound Gravel and similar events. The Hootin’ Hauler platform distinguishes itself through an open-source philosophy, offering a free library of 3D-printable attachments that riders can download, customise, or design themselves to suit their specific needs. To kickstart this initiative, 5,000 starter kits will be distributed in race packs at Unbound Gravel’s 20th anniversary event, aiming to build a user base that can collaboratively evolve the platform.
