From Just 1156g at 47-49.5mm Deep, Hunt’s 4AM Wheels Are Both Super Light AND Aero!

Hunt has unveiled its latest 4AM Limitless Ti UD Carbon Spoke wheelset, combining ultra-lightweight construction with advanced aerodynamic design. Weighing just 1156 grams, these wheels feature nearly 50mm mid-depth rims and carbon spokes, delivering a remarkable balance of low weight and wind tunnel-tested aero efficiency. Positioned as a versatile option for high alpine racing, the 4AM wheels offer a 1.4-watt aerodynamic advantage over the ENVE SES 4.5 Pro while saving 139 grams in weight, making them some of the lightest and fastest mid-depth aero wheels currently available. The 4AM wheels build on Hunt’s previous 5AM Limitless range but feature slightly shallower rims—49.5mm deep at the front and 47mm at the rear—optimised for responsiveness and stability in variable wind conditions. The rims are designed with a 23mm internal width to accommodate modern 28-30mm tyres, and the wheelset employs a reduced spoke count with 15 front and 18 rear Vonoa carbon spokes, all with recessed nipples to maintain smooth airflow. Hunt’s “Limitless” aero technology involves a comprehensive five-stage design process including CFD modelling, wind tunnel testing with a rider, and real-world aerodynamic validation. Hunt offers the 4AM wheels in three variants to suit different preferences and budgets. The premium Ti UD Carbon Spoke model with hybrid CeramicSpeed bearings is priced at £2449, while a stainless steel bearing version is available for £1959. Additionally, a more affordable steel-spoked option weighing 1283g is offered at £1659, still outperforming the ENVE SES 4.5 Pro in aerodynamic testing. Complementing the 4AM range, Hunt has also introduced steel-spoked versions of the deeper 5AM wheels, broadening the choice for riders seeking a balance of performance and value. The introduction of the 4AM wheels underscores Hunt’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of lightweight and aerodynamic wheel design, particularly for competitive road cycling and high-mountain racing.
