Fox Float X2 Now Available with Live Valve Neo
Summary By: eMotoX
Fox has introduced the Float X2 shock with its Live Valve Neo technology, extending its automatic damping adjustment system to the gravity riding segment. Previously available on the Float X and DHX models since early 2024, Live Valve Neo now enhances the latest Float X2, which was updated last year. This integration offers riders electronic, near-instantaneous adjustments to compression damping, optimising shock performance according to terrain and rider input.
The Live Valve Neo system operates by analysing conditions 400 times per second and can adjust the shock’s compression circuit in as little as 1/70th of a second. This rapid response allows the shock to firm up for efficient pedalling or soften to improve traction and comfort, depending on the situation. Fox positions this upgrade as a significant enhancement for enduro and downhill riders, promising increased traction, reduced fatigue, and greater confidence at speed.
In terms of adjustability, the Float X2 Live Valve Neo retains the standard shock’s features, including 11 clicks of low-speed compression and both high- and low-speed rebound adjustments. The “Firm” mode also offers seven clicks of fine-tuning, allowing riders to tailor the shock’s behaviour to their preferences. Additional customisation is available through the Fox Bike App, which provides preset tunes and further options to suit different riding styles.
The shock is offered in both Trunnion and standard eyelet mounts, with a claimed weight of 750 grams for the 210x55mm size. It features a pressure-balanced monotube design for improved damper performance, a larger ½-inch shaft for durability, and an updated Variable Valve Control on high-speed rebound. Parallel reservoir orientation is available on select sizes to aid frame clearance, catering to a range of bike designs.
Pricing for the complete Float X2 Live Valve Neo system is split between the shock itself and the sensor and battery kit, which are sold separately. The Factory Series shock is priced at £1,349, while the sensor and battery kit cost £449. The new Float X2 with Live Valve Neo is now available through Fox’s official channels, marking a notable advancement in electronic suspension technology for gravity-focused mountain biking.
