Cool bike gear for shallower pockets for a change: New bikes from Ribble that might actually fit you, a brace of shoes from Canyon, in a jam packed tech round-up

Summary By: eMotoX
Ribble has expanded its range of carbon endurance bikes with the introduction of the Ultra-Road and Allroad Carbon models, both designed to offer a blend of performance and practicality. The Ultra-Road features what Ribble terms “performance-leaning endurance geometry,” prioritising a comfortable and sustainable riding position over the aggressive posture of a traditional race bike. This model accommodates wide tyres up to 38mm, includes internal frame storage, and supports mudguards, making it versatile for long-distance rides. The Allroad Carbon, an evolution of Ribble’s Allroad SL, focuses on aerodynamics with redesigned tube shapes and integrated cable routing, and is built to handle a variety of road surfaces with clearance for 35mm tyres. Canyon has unveiled the Tempr range of cycling shoes, available in both road and off-road variants, aimed at balancing performance with affordability. The Tempr Road shoe features an 8K woven carbon composite outsole and a breathable synthetic upper, while the Off-Road version opts for a glass-fibre nylon sole with a flexible forefoot for comfort on varied terrain. Both models include BOA® Li2 dials for precise fit adjustments and are priced at €159.95, offering a more accessible option compared to Canyon’s higher-end offerings. The shoes are designed to deliver durability and comfort without compromising on weight or efficiency. Apidura has introduced its Aero Bolt-On Tube modules, innovative storage solutions designed to enhance aerodynamic performance for gravel racers. These strap-free modules, available in two sizes, attach to the top tube and can be adjusted for optimal alignment with the bike’s stem. Their effectiveness was demonstrated at the Unbound gravel race, where riders equipped with the modules secured victories. Apidura claims the system can save up to 5.2 watts when combined with its Aero Frame Module, highlighting the potential for marginal gains in endurance racing. Completing the roundup is Lazer’s Blade KinetiCore helmet, tailored for gravel riders who transition seamlessly between trail and road. The helmet aims to offer comfort and protection across diverse riding conditions, though detailed specifications were not fully disclosed. This addition complements the theme of versatile, performance-oriented gear that caters to riders seeking quality without the premium price tag. Together, these new products reflect a growing trend in cycling towards accessible, well-engineered equipment that balances cost with functionality.
