Panaracer has expanded its renowned Gravelking range with the launch of the new ZX semi-slick tyre, designed specifically for modern gravel racers tackling mixed-surface routes. Building on the brand’s decade-long reputation for innovation in gravel tyres, the ZX aims to balance low rolling resistance with the grip and durability needed for challenging conditions. This latest iteration reflects Panaracer’s ongoing commitment to refining performance in a discipline that has evolved significantly since the original Gravelking debuted in 2014. The ZX features a distinctive ‘three-zone’ tread pattern, combining a smooth central strip for speed with transitional tread on the inner edges and aggressive side lugs to enhance cornering and traction on loose or technical terrain. This design allows riders to maintain momentum on hardpacked gravel and tarmac while benefiting from reliable grip when the surface becomes more demanding. Initial offerings focus on larger widths—45mm and 50mm—with additional sizes, including a 35mm version aimed at road and all-road bikes, due later in the year, reflecting the growing trend towards wider tyres for stability and control. Panaracer equips the ZX with its proprietary ZSG Gravel compound, which promises consistent performance and durability, alongside TuffTex and BeadLock technologies that improve tubeless setup, enable lower pressure riding, and provide puncture resistance against sharp gravel. These features position the ZX as a robust choice for some of the toughest gravel events worldwide, including the UCI Gravel World Series and prominent races such as Unbound and Mid South Gravel, where Panaracer tyres have already established a strong presence. The ZX range will be available in multiple widths and finishes, with prices starting at approximately £55 per tyre. The staggered release schedule throughout 2026 ensures riders can select the right size and specification for their needs, whether for competitive gravel racing or versatile all-road use.
