Jhonatan Narváez was forced to withdraw from the Giro d’Italia following a crash that occurred off the race route after stage 18. Initially, the incident appeared minor, with Narváez experiencing only some neck and back spasms, but the injuries worsened, leading to his withdrawal early into stage 19. Manuele Mori, the directeur sportif of UAE Team Emirates-XRG, explained that Narváez was distracted while checking his cycling computer and failed to notice the bus braking ahead. Despite starting stage 19, Narváez struggled with dizziness and nosebleeds, symptoms exacerbated by heat and exertion. After consulting with race doctors, the team decided it was in his best interest to abandon the race, prioritising his health over competition.
