2026 Sea Otter Sneak Peek: Aventon’s New eGravel Prototype Teases Lighter Motor

Aventon offered a glimpse into its future eBike lineup at the recent Sea Otter Classic by unveiling a prototype of its new eGravel bike. Building on the success of their full-suspension eMTB, the Southern California-based brand showcased this model as a significant step forward, particularly highlighting a new, lighter motor designed specifically for this bike. While the prototype was still undergoing assembly during the event, Aventon provided official images to give enthusiasts a clearer look at the design and features. Central to the new eGravel bike is the introduction of the UltroL motor, a more compact and lightweight iteration of the Ultro motor currently powering their eMTB, the Current. This motor is expected to enhance the bike’s performance while reducing overall weight, contributing to Aventon's goal of achieving a total bike weight of around 34 pounds. The eGravel model will also feature a 500Wh battery and is anticipated to use the same touchscreen display system as the Current, maintaining a consistent user interface across their range. Development of the eGravel bike has been ongoing for a couple of years, though it has not been in the works as long as the Current eMTB. Aventon plans to offer the bike in sizes ranging from small to large, although there is some uncertainty about the availability of the smallest size depending on how the medium size fits. Pricing details have yet to be released, leaving potential buyers awaiting further announcements. Aventon aims to launch the eGravel bike in Spring 2027, signalling a continued expansion into the growing eGravel market. This prototype not only teases the brand’s technological advancements but also suggests a strategic move to diversify their electric bike offerings. Fans and prospective customers can expect more updates as Aventon refines the design and prepares for the official release.
