FIRST LOOK! 2027 YAMAHA YZ450F & YZ450FX

Yamaha has unveiled its 2027 models for the YZ450F and YZ450FX, with the motocross-focused YZ450F remaining largely unchanged from the previous year. The YZ450F continues as Yamaha’s flagship 450cc motocross bike, retaining the same engine, chassis, and suspension setup. The only notable update is a fresh set of graphics, and the model will be available from July priced at $10,299. In contrast, the 2027 YZ450FX receives significant enhancements aimed at cross-country and off-road riders. While it shares the updated design cues of the YZ450F, the FX variant is tailored for greater comfort and control over technical terrain. Yamaha has reworked the engine for smoother power delivery, focusing on increased low-to-mid-range torque to improve rideability in challenging environments such as wooded trails and rocky sections. Additional improvements to the YZ450FX include a new 51-tooth sprocket, a lighter hydraulic clutch lever by 15 percent, and frame updates derived from the YZ450F. Suspension has been retuned by KYB to enhance comfort and compliance, and the bike is fitted with Dunlop Geomax AT82 tyres designed for cross-country conditions. These changes collectively aim to make the YZ450FX easier to handle over long distances and demanding terrain. The 2027 YZ450FX will be available from September at a price of $10,499, slightly higher than the motocross YZ450F. Yamaha’s focus on refining the FX model highlights the growing importance of versatility and rider comfort in the competitive cross-country market. These updates suggest Yamaha is committed to offering a balanced machine that combines the power of a 450cc engine with the endurance needed for technical off-road racing.
