Newmen Streem G.62 is Ultra-Wide, Deep Aero, Carbon-Spoked & Gravel Race Light

Summary By: eMotoX
German manufacturer Newmen has launched the Streem G.62, a groundbreaking gravel wheelset that combines ultra-wide rims with deep aerodynamic profiles and lightweight construction. The standout feature is the 45mm outer rim width, optimised specifically for modern 45mm to 50mm gravel tyres, making it one of the widest aero gravel rims currently available. Despite this width and a rim depth of 62mm, the wheelset remains relatively light at 1530g for the carbon-spoked version, thanks to the innovative Vonoa carbon spokes. Newmen claims the design achieves aerodynamic performance comparable to top-tier aero road wheels, even when paired with wide gravel tyres. The Streem G.62 builds on Newmen’s experience with their Streem aero road wheels, which have been proven in professional racing, including Grand Tour stage wins and the Tour de France Green jersey. The wheels feature a 27mm internal width to maintain the correct tyre shape and maximise performance, alongside a CNC-machined centrelock disc hub and compatibility with various freehub standards. The wheelsets are tubeless-ready and include Newmen’s proprietary Aero Valve System, which hides the valve inside the rim for improved airflow. Production is split between Germany for the carbon-spoked models and the Czech Republic for the steel-spoked variants, with the wheels tested to rigorous XC mountain bike standards and rated for riders up to 130kg. Wide aero gravel wheels remain a niche but rapidly evolving segment, as traditionally, wider tyres have been thought to compromise aerodynamic efficiency. Newmen’s approach challenges this assumption by matching rim width to tyre size, thereby maintaining smooth airflow and maximising aero gains. The Streem G.62 also addresses the usual weight penalty associated with wider rims, offering a competitive alternative to other wide aero gravel wheels like Hunt’s Limitless series, which are lighter but narrower and more expensive. This positions Newmen’s offering as a unique proposition for racers seeking both speed and stability on gravel. The wheelset is available in two main versions: a premium carbon-spoke model priced at €1690 and a more affordable steel-spoked option at €1390, which adds only 70g in weight. Both versions come with choices of silver or black-on-carbon graphics, with the silver decal models currently available through Newmen dealers and the stealthier black versions expected in August 2026. The pricing and technical innovations suggest the Streem G.62 could significantly influence the gravel racing market by making wide, aero-optimised wheels more accessible to competitive riders.
