The Revel Ranger is Completely Redesigned with More Travel, Updated Geometry, and More

Revel Bikes has unveiled a thoroughly redesigned version of its Ranger model, marking a significant evolution for the brand since its revival under founder Adam Miller. The new Ranger is positioned as a true downcountry bike, blending the pedalling efficiency of a cross-country machine with the descending capability of a longer-travel trail bike. This latest iteration features a lighter frame, updated geometry, and increased suspension travel, aiming to enhance both performance and rider confidence across varied terrain. The most notable mechanical update is the increase in suspension travel, with the rear now offering 120mm and the front equipped with a 130mm fork. Revel has refined its Canfield Balance Formula (CBF) suspension platform specifically for this short-travel setup, promising a balanced ride that smooths out small bumps, improves traction, and maintains stability under braking. The suspension tuning is designed to deliver efficient climbing while providing comfort and control on descents, reflecting the brand’s focus on versatility. Geometry changes bring the Ranger in line with modern trail bike trends, featuring a slacker 65.7-degree head angle for improved downhill handling and a steeper 77-degree effective seat tube angle to optimise seated pedalling position. Reach has been extended and the bottom bracket lowered to enhance stability, while chainstay lengths have been adjusted to balance handling across frame sizes. These updates collectively aim to make the bike more playful and confidence-inspiring without compromising efficiency. Aesthetically, the Ranger retains a familiar silhouette but adopts a cleaner, more modern design language. The frame incorporates larger tube sections and repositioned, internalised hardware to boost stiffness and durability while reducing noise. Additional features include enhanced frame protection with rubber guards and internal cable routing to minimise maintenance and rattling, making it the quietest Ranger model to date. The Ranger V3 is available in two colour options, Red Zeppelin and Steezy, and can be purchased as a frame-only or in three complete builds ranging from $5,599 to $10,199. While full build specifications have yet to be detailed, the new Ranger’s combination of refined suspension, updated geometry, and thoughtful design improvements positions it as a compelling choice for riders seeking a capable, efficient short-travel trail bike.
