Zeekr rolls out first OTA update for 7X electric SUV in Australia

Zeekr has initiated the first over-the-air (OTA) software update for its 7X electric SUV in the Australian market, introducing several new features aimed at enhancing convenience and connectivity for owners. The update can be installed remotely without requiring a visit to a dealership, reflecting the growing trend of software-defined vehicles that improve post-delivery. Among the key additions is the Remote Smart Parking Assist, which now includes a straight-line function allowing drivers to manoeuvre the vehicle forwards or backwards remotely via an Apple smartphone, facilitating easier parking in tight or awkward spaces. The OTA update also brings Apple-exclusive CCC 3.0 digital key functionality, enabling owners to unlock and access their 7X using a compatible smartphone instead of a physical key. Inside the cabin, Zeekr has refined alert tones to improve clarity while reducing intrusiveness, including updates to turn signal sounds and vehicle notifications. Additionally, Apple CarPlay has been enhanced for smoother operation, improving navigation, communication, and entertainment features within the vehicle’s infotainment system. Frank Li, managing director of Zeekr Australia, emphasised that the update exemplifies the benefits of modern electric vehicle ownership, where continuous software improvements can enhance the user experience over time. He highlighted that the new features make the 7X smarter and more enjoyable to drive, underscoring Zeekr’s commitment to ongoing innovation. The rollout serves as a significant milestone for Zeekr as it seeks to strengthen its presence in the Australian EV market, where the 7X has already achieved nearly 4,000 sales since its launch in August 2025. The deployment of OTA updates is becoming increasingly common as electric vehicles evolve into software-centric platforms, allowing manufacturers to deliver new functionalities and refinements remotely.
