AmpUp’s EV charging management software earns CTEP certification for five charging hardware brands
Summary By: eMotoX
California-based AmpUp, a leading provider of electric vehicle (EV) charging management software, has expanded its portfolio of California Type Evaluation Program (CTEP)-certified chargers to include five original equipment manufacturer (OEM) brands. This development enhances the company’s OCPP-compliant platform, which already supports over 130 charger makes and models. The CTEP certification is crucial for ensuring pricing transparency and regulatory compliance in public EV charging, requiring hardware-software combinations to be certified for accurate customer billing.
AmpUp’s certification now covers Level 2 hardware from Autel AC, EVSE LLC, Leviton AC, StarCharge AC, and Zerova AC, all operating under a single certificate number. The company has also streamlined the certification process, enabling commercial site hosts to deploy chargers from multiple manufacturers using one software backend. This flexibility is significant for operators seeking to tailor their EV charging infrastructure without being restricted to a single vendor.
The California Division of Measurement Standards has approved AmpUp’s mobile app version 2.9.3 and above, confirming its compliance with CTEP requirements. The platform ensures transparent pricing, precise energy measurement to 0.0001 kWh, accurate idle fees, and secure digital receipts. Additionally, it supports Category 3 sealing for regulatory event logs, enhancing the integrity and auditability of charging transactions.
Tom Sun, AmpUp’s CEO and founder, emphasised the importance of maintaining commercial flexibility alongside compliance. He highlighted the company’s efforts to accelerate the certification timeline, which previously took months per OEM, allowing site hosts greater choice in their hardware deployments. This advancement could encourage wider adoption of certified EV charging solutions and support the growth of public charging networks in California and beyond.
