All-New Factor Sarana Endurance Gravel Bike Goes Low & Long
Summary By: eMotoX
Factor has introduced the Sarana, a new endurance gravel bike designed to combine aerodynamic efficiency with long-distance comfort. Unveiled at the Traka proving ground, the Sarana features a distinctive low-slung frame with an ultra-low seatstay junction and a short top tube, giving it a sleek, fast appearance even when fully loaded with bags. The bike is engineered to accommodate large 57mm tyres front and rear, enhancing its capability on rough terrain while maintaining speed and stability.
The Sarana’s frame construction utilises a blend of high-modulus carbon for stiffness and efficient power transfer, alongside mid-modulus carbon to dampen vibrations. A key innovation is the dropped seatstays, which function like a leaf spring, combined with a bowed seat tube to further reduce vibration by 18% compared to Factor’s baseline. The design also includes a dramatically lowered chainstay to clear large 29×2.2-inch tyres and allow for a 52-tooth chainring on 1x drivetrains, with consistent 425mm chainstay lengths and 65mm trail geometry across all sizes.
In terms of practicality, the Sarana is equipped with multiple mounting points for frame and top tube bags, developed in collaboration with Post Carry, making it ideal for ultra-endurance events. Additional features include a storage compartment beneath the downtube water bottle cage and an integrated AirTag mount, catering to riders who need to carry essential gear securely over long distances. The bike supports both rigid and 30mm suspension forks, offering versatility depending on terrain and rider preference.
Factor positions the Sarana within its gravel race lineup as a bike built for ultra-racing, targeting events that last hundreds of miles rather than minutes. The emphasis is on maintaining speed and rider comfort deep into endurance races, aiming to improve performance in the later stages rather than simply making the ride easier. Pricing for the frameset starts at $4,699 USD, with complete builds available up to $10,199 USD, and the bike is offered in two colourways: Cyan Blue and Prismatic Gold.
