Canyon Grizl AL Aluminum Adventure Gravel Bike is Almost Half The Price of Carbon

Canyon has expanded its adventure gravel bike range with the introduction of the Grizl AL, an aluminium-framed model that offers much of the versatility of its carbon counterpart at nearly half the price. Starting at just 1300€, the Grizl AL features a Shimano 1x drivetrain and a tubeless-ready setup, positioning it as an attractive option for riders seeking value without compromising on capability. This move broadens access to adventure-ready gravel bikes, particularly as the segment increasingly embraces larger tyres and greater load-carrying capacity. The new Grizl AL departs from the previous generation’s attempt to mimic the carbon model’s aesthetics, instead embracing a straightforward aluminium design that is both lighter and more functional. The frame is claimed to weigh 1845g, with a carbon fork adding 577g, and the bike now accommodates tyres up to 700c x 54mm or 29 x 2.1 inches. Enhanced mounting options include multiple cage mounts on the fork and frame, as well as mounts for racks, fenders, and bags, making the bike adaptable for touring, commuting, or bikepacking adventures. Canyon offers the Grizl AL in three complete builds, catering to a range of budgets and preferences. The entry-level Grizl 5 comes with a Shimano Claris 1x 11-speed groupset and tubeless-ready wheels, while the mid-tier Grizl 6 features a mechanical SRAM Apex Xplr 1x 12-speed setup. At the top end, the Grizl 7 ESC boasts a Shimano GRX 12-speed drivetrain, upgraded wheels and tyres, and Canyon’s integrated Full Mounty cockpit with an aerodynamic design and carbon seatpost. All models are available in seven sizes and three understated colourways, with availability currently focused on Europe and Canada, and limited US stock. The introduction of the Grizl AL reflects Canyon’s recognition of the growing demand for affordable yet capable adventure gravel bikes.
