Zwift will soon stop working on some Apple devices – here's how to make sure you won't be affected
Summary By: eMotoX
Zwift has announced that from 4 August 2026, its app will no longer support Apple devices running iOS 14 or tvOS 14. These operating systems, which were initially released in September 2020, will become incompatible with the Zwift game client, affecting users on iPhones, iPads, and Apple TVs. To continue using Zwift, users must update their devices to iOS or tvOS 15 or later versions, with iOS 15 being the minimum requirement for the app to function properly.
The update does not affect MacBook users, but those with older Apple devices may need to check their current operating system version by navigating to the Settings menu under General and About. Zwift has advised that many devices running older systems can upgrade their software without needing to replace the hardware, ensuring better performance and access to new features within the app. Users will receive an in-game notification warning them of the impending change well in advance.
iOS 15 is compatible with all iPhone models released after the iPhone 6s, which debuted in 2015. Devices older than this model may no longer support Zwift, meaning users might have to consider upgrading their hardware to continue using the platform. Zwift has provided detailed lists of supported devices on its website, distinguishing between those compatible with the game app and the companion app.
The company communicated the changes via email to its user base, emphasising that the move aligns with industry standards for maintaining software and hardware compatibility. Zwift’s decision reflects a broader trend in technology companies phasing out support for older operating systems to prioritise security, performance, and the integration of new features. Further details and user support are available on Zwift’s official forum, where users can find guidance on the update process and device compatibility.
