Cannondale’s Latest Moterra and Moterra LT eMTBs Now Available in North America
Summary By: eMotoX
Cannondale has launched the latest iteration of its Moterra and Moterra LT electric mountain bikes in the North American market, expanding its eMTB range with two distinct travel options. Both models are powered by the Bosch Performance Line CX motor, now enhanced with the Bosch Performance Upgrade 2.0, delivering up to 120Nm of torque and a significant boost in motor support. The Moterra lineup sits alongside the lighter Moterra SL, offering riders a choice between the 150mm travel all-mountain Moterra and the 165mm travel e-enduro Moterra LT, catering to various riding styles and terrain preferences.
The standard Moterra is designed as a versatile all-mountain machine, featuring a 150mm rear travel paired with a 160mm fork, and is available in both carbon and alloy frames. The Moterra LT, with its longer 165mm rear travel, targets more aggressive enduro riders. Both models utilise a 4-bar Horst Link suspension system and incorporate Cannondale’s Proportional Response design on the carbon frames, which adjusts geometry and suspension kinematics according to frame size. Notably, the carbon versions have shed nearly a kilogram compared to previous models, enhancing agility and performance.
Battery capacity varies across the range, with most models equipped with an 800Wh Bosch PowerTube battery, while the entry-level Moterra 4 Alloy features a 600Wh pack. The system supports removable and interchangeable batteries, including compatibility with Bosch’s 250Wh PowerMore range extender. Control systems differ by trim level, from the high-end Moterra 1’s Top Tube System Controller with Kiox 500 display and wireless remote, down to the more basic Purion 200 display on the alloy-framed Moterra 3.
Pricing for the new Moterra models spans from £4,499 for the alloy-framed Moterra 4 with a 600Wh battery, up to £10,499 for the premium carbon-framed Moterra 1, which boasts top-tier components such as a Fox Factory 38 fork, Shimano XT Di2 drivetrain, and Magura Gustav Elite brakes. The Moterra 2 and 3 offer mid-range options with a mix of Shimano and RockShox components, catering to riders seeking a balance between performance and affordability. This refreshed lineup strengthens Cannondale’s position in the competitive eMTB market by providing a broad spectrum of choices for riders prioritising power, suspension performance, and battery life.
