Hirect launches new copper conductor lines for traction motors and power transformers

Summary By: eMotoX
Hirect has introduced three new copper conductor product lines—Continuously Transposed Conductors (CTC), Paper Insulated Copper Conductors (PICC), and Enameled Paper Insulated Copper Conductors (EPICC)—now commercially available from its recently opened copper processing facility. These products are designed primarily for use in power transformers, traction motors, and high-power wound components, serving sectors such as grid infrastructure, railway rolling stock, and catenary power supply systems. The company highlights the versatility of its CTC line, which accommodates a wide range of strand counts and dimensions, alongside adjustable transposition pitches to suit various engineering requirements. The manufacturing process incorporates stringent quality control measures, with the CTC production area maintained as dust-free and air-conditioned to ensure product integrity. Hirect has implemented 100% in-line optical testing across all enameling lines, including pinhole and blister detection, complemented by precision equipment capable of maintaining tight tolerances within ±5 microns during drawing and rolling. The facility holds ISO 9001:2015 certification and conducts comprehensive in-house testing for electrical and mechanical properties, such as Tan Delta, high-voltage breakdown, interstrand shorts, and proof stress, underscoring the company’s commitment to quality and reliability. Shailesh Jadav, Hirect’s Vice President of Operations, emphasised the integration of advanced testing technologies as a critical factor in maintaining consistent product standards. The company also ensures its supply chain complies with EU Conflict Minerals Regulations and the Responsible Minerals Initiative, reflecting a dedication to ethical sourcing and sustainability. These developments position Hirect as a competitive supplier in the electric traction and power transformer markets, where high-performance copper conductors are essential. Looking ahead, Hirect plans to showcase its new product lines at the upcoming CWIEME 2026 exhibition, scheduled for May 19–21, where it will present its latest innovations to industry stakeholders. This launch marks a significant step in expanding the company’s footprint within the electric motorsport and energy sectors, potentially influencing the design and efficiency of future traction motor and transformer technologies.
