Interview: Dan Devine – “My goal is to qualify for Loket”

Dan Devine, a promising young British motocross rider, is making significant strides on the European circuit as he gains experience against some of the continent’s top youth competitors. After a commendable debut in the EMX85 series in the Netherlands, where he secured ninth and tenth-place finishes, Devine has set his sights on further progress. Despite initial low expectations, he was pleased with his performance on the challenging Delfzijl track, which featured rough, hard-packed terrain unlike the sandy conditions he prefers. Looking ahead, Devine is preparing for the next EMX85 round in Denmark, a new venue for the rider. Although he favours sandy tracks and has limited experience on hard pack surfaces, he remains optimistic about maintaining his top-ten form. Alongside his European outings, Devine has also enjoyed success in the British Youth series, where a recent championship race victory has bolstered his confidence and motivation for the season ahead. Devine’s ambitions are clear: he aims to finish in the top five of the British Youth Championship and, crucially, to qualify for the prestigious EMX85 final at Loket. Racing at Loket, alongside the MXGP elite, represents a major milestone for the young rider. He draws inspiration from top professionals like Jeffrey Herlings, whose aggressive style he admires, and acknowledges the vital support of his family in enabling his racing journey. With growing confidence and valuable international experience, Devine’s trajectory in the sport looks promising. His recent performances suggest that he is on course to achieve his goal of competing at Loket, signalling a bright future as he continues to develop his skills and challenge himself on the European stage.
