EF Pro Cycling to wear alien-themed kit at the Giro d'Italia

Summary By: eMotoX
EF Pro Cycling’s men’s and women’s teams will sport a distinctive alien-themed green kit at this year’s Giro d’Italia, departing from their usual pink colours to avoid clashing with the leader’s jersey. The new design, titled ‘Ride in Peace’, has been created by Swiss apparel brand Assos, which took over as the team’s clothing supplier at the start of the season. This bold visual departure continues EF’s tradition of adopting alternative kits for the Italian Grand Tour, combining unique aesthetics with high-performance cycling wear. The ‘Ride in Peace’ kit features a striking giant alien head alongside crop-circle motifs and an upside-down black-and-white cow, evoking a cosmic and otherworldly narrative. Assos describes the design as blending “interstellar design” with “podium-proven performance,” aiming to challenge conventional boundaries between identity and functionality in professional cycling apparel. Edwin Navez, CEO of Assos, emphasised the brand’s commitment to innovation by integrating both performance and visual expression into the kit’s concept. EF Pro Cycling has a history of making headlines with unconventional kit choices at the Giro. In 2020, the team wore a limited-edition jersey featuring a cartoon duck, a collaboration with Rapha and skateboard brand Palace, which resulted in a fine from the UCI but proved highly popular with fans. In recent years, the team has experimented with various designs, including black jerseys in 2021, 2022, and 2024, and a patchwork of colourful panels in 2023 to promote sustainability efforts. These creative approaches have become a hallmark of EF’s Giro presence. The men’s Giro d’Italia will commence on 8 May in Bulgaria and conclude on 31 May, while the nine-stage women’s race is scheduled from 31 May to 7 June. EF’s alien-themed kit is already available as a limited edition through Assos’s website. Other teams will also feature alternative kits at the event, with Soudal Quick-Step honouring their supplier Castelli’s 150th anniversary with a vintage cream jersey, and Ineos Grenadiers unveiling a new grey kit to mark their rebranding as Netcompany-Ineos.
