Morrow begins battery cell deliveries to Proventia as Norwegian production scales up

Summary By: eMotoX
Morrow Batteries has commenced deliveries of lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery cells to Finnish technology firm Proventia as part of a long-term supply agreement. The cells, produced at Morrow’s factory in Arendal, Norway, will be integrated into Proventia’s battery modules and packs designed for off-highway and industrial applications. This partnership is set to extend through 2031, with provisions to incorporate additional cell chemistries as they become commercially viable. Proventia anticipates launching its first customer deliveries using Morrow’s cells within the first half of this year. The collaboration between Morrow and Proventia goes beyond a simple supply arrangement, involving close technical cooperation to optimise battery module and pack performance. Both companies are focusing on validation processes and ensuring reliability in demanding operational environments, reflecting the high standards required for industrial use. Morrow is simultaneously working to scale up production capacity and refine manufacturing processes at its Norwegian facility to meet these stringent quality and performance criteria. Jon Fold von Bülow, Acting CEO of Morrow, emphasised the significance of this milestone while acknowledging the challenges involved in establishing stable and competitive battery production. He highlighted the time and effort necessary to scale operations and consistently deliver high-quality products to customers with demanding requirements. Meanwhile, Proventia’s Product Manager, Jari Granath, underlined the growing importance of sourcing battery cells produced in Europe, citing supply security and competitiveness as key factors driving the partnership. The agreement signals a strategic move towards strengthening the European battery supply chain, particularly for industrial and off-highway sectors where reliability and performance are paramount. As Morrow continues to ramp up production and enhance its manufacturing capabilities, the collaboration with Proventia is poised to support the development of advanced battery solutions tailored to challenging environments. This partnership may well serve as a model for future European battery production and supply arrangements in the evolving electric mobility landscape.
