Source EV charging network partners with Siemens and Evolt Charging to establish UK maintenance partnership
Summary By: eMotoX
Source, the electric vehicle charging network formed as a joint venture between SSE and TotalEnergies, has announced a strategic partnership with Siemens eMobility and Evolt Charging to streamline the operation and maintenance of its expanding UK and Ireland charging infrastructure. Siemens will provide the charging hardware, while Evolt Charging will manage installation, commissioning, and maintenance services. This collaboration aims to deliver a unified maintenance model, offering Source a single point of contact for all repair and upkeep activities across its diverse network of chargers.
Evolt Charging’s engineers are fully trained and accredited on Siemens equipment, ensuring specialist expertise in servicing the hardware. As Source accelerates its rollout, with plans to operate 300 charging hubs by 2030, Evolt is scaling up its team of Siemens-certified technicians to meet growing demand. Each Source hub features chargers with a minimum power capacity of 150 kW, with some locations offering higher-powered units, all powered by renewable energy sources, reinforcing the company’s commitment to sustainable EV infrastructure.
Deepa Chandrasekaran, Managing Director at Source, emphasised the importance of reliable maintenance in the success of EV charging networks, highlighting the partnership as a way to guarantee consistent service for customers nationwide. She noted that combining Siemens’ hardware expertise with Evolt’s engineering capabilities would be a key differentiator for Source as it expands. Justin Meyer, Managing Director at Evolt Charging, added that their manufacturer-agnostic approach allows them to support multi-brand networks with consistent service and compliance, providing operators with confidence in their maintenance provision.
This partnership reflects a broader trend in the EV sector towards integrated service models that simplify network management and enhance reliability for users. By consolidating hardware supply and maintenance under a single operational framework, Source aims to improve customer experience and operational efficiency as it scales. The collaboration also signals the growing importance of accredited service providers in supporting the rapid expansion of EV charging infrastructure across the UK and Ireland.
