1.7kg CYPLORE eBike Conversion Kit Turns Road & Gravel Bikes Into Ultra Light eBikes

CYPLORE has unveiled a new electric bike conversion system designed to transform existing road and gravel bikes into lightweight e-bikes. The system centres around a discreet rear hub motor paired with an aerodynamic, bottle-style battery, both engineered to integrate seamlessly with bikes featuring 12 x 142mm thru-axles. Offered in two versions—a complete pre-built carbon wheel (CYPLORE ONE) or a hub-only option for custom wheel builds (CYPLORE FLEX)—the conversion kit aims to preserve the aesthetics and handling of traditional bikes while providing pedal-assist functionality. Weighing just 1.7kg for the hub-only setup and 2.5kg for the complete wheel, CYPLORE claims their system is the lightest electric conversion kit on the market. The compact motor delivers up to 250 watts of peak power and 23 Nm of torque, using a torque sensor to provide smooth, proportional assistance. Riders can choose from four assistance modes—Smooth, Agile, Auto, and Training—controlled via a magnetic remote that docks on the battery for charging and can be mounted on the handlebar for easy access during rides. The battery mounts to standard bottle bosses and offers 111Wh capacity, providing a claimed range of up to 50km with a rapid one-hour USB-C charging time. The system supports a variety of freehub standards including Shimano HG and SRAM XD/XDR, ensuring compatibility with many popular road and gravel bike setups. Installation is straightforward, particularly for the pre-built wheel option, which requires minimal steps such as fitting a cassette and tyre before swapping the wheel and attaching the battery and power cable. CYPLORE’s system also features ANT+ connectivity for integration with cycling computers and a dedicated app that allows riders to monitor ride data, battery status, and upload to platforms like Strava. The company has launched a Kickstarter campaign offering early backers significant discounts, signalling their intent to bring this ultra-lightweight e-bike conversion to a wider audience keen to upgrade their existing bikes without compromising performance or style.
