FELT Reinvents Their Breed Gravel Bike

Summary By: eMotoX
FELT Bicycles has unveiled the latest iteration of its gravel racing bike, the BREED, designed specifically for competitive riders rather than casual explorers. Developed at FELT’s Barcelona headquarters, the new BREED aims to deliver a blend of aerodynamic efficiency, lightweight construction, and precise handling tailored to the demands of gravel racing. The bike represents a significant evolution in FELT’s gravel lineup, focusing on speed and control across varied race conditions. A standout feature of the BREED is its remarkable weight reduction, with the FRD model’s frame weighing just 950 grams in size 54, contributing to a total bike weight of 7.037 kilograms. This marks a nearly 23% decrease compared to the previous model, achieved through two distinct carbon layups that balance weight, stiffness, and durability. Aerodynamics have also been improved, with a 10.5% reduction in drag thanks to a redesigned frame, fork optimised for wider gravel tyres, and an ultralight carbon one-piece cockpit, all contributing to enhanced airflow management. The bike’s geometry is inspired by aero road designs but adapted for gravel racing, providing a low bottom bracket drop for confident cornering and a longer front end for stability at speed. The rear triangle is engineered to offer immediate feedback during sprints and hard accelerations, critical for tactical positioning in races. Riders can fit wide tyres up to 54mm at the front and 52mm at the rear, and the frame supports multiple race configurations, including up to four bottle mounts, optional suspension forks, and compatibility with full dropper posts. FELT offers the BREED in four complete builds across two carbon platforms. The FRD and PRO models use the highest-grade carbon for maximum performance and lightness, targeting elite racers, while the EXPERT and RACE builds focus on durability and stiffness without compromising the race-oriented geometry. All versions are equipped with SRAM groupsets, and there is also an FRD framekit available for custom builds, underscoring FELT’s commitment to providing a versatile, race-ready gravel bike for a range of competitive riders.
