Light & Electronic Roundup: Outbound’s eMTB Hardwired Light, Heated Handlebars, & More

Summary By: eMotoX
Outbound Lighting has unveiled a range of innovative products aimed at enhancing electric mountain biking experiences, particularly in low-light conditions. The standout is the forthcoming eEVO headlight, designed to draw power directly from ebike batteries such as Bosch and Shimano systems, delivering between 2,000 and 3,000 lumens. This integration promises a significant boost in lighting performance without the need for separate batteries, and the light will be available with single or dual-sided mounts, including a premium aluminium option developed in partnership with Wolf Tooth Components. Complementing the eEVO is the now-available Blade rear light, which features a sophisticated triple-optic design to maximise rider visibility. The Blade combines a wide horizontal red light, a down-firing red light to illuminate the rider’s legs for bio-motion visibility, and amber side lights to catch attention from multiple angles. Its user-replaceable 18650 battery offers impressive runtimes, from over eight hours on high power to more than 120 hours on eco flash mode, and the light charges via USB-C in around four hours. The mounting system is versatile, incorporating a quarter-turn lock and compatibility with GoPro-style mounts, enhancing its adaptability for different bike setups. In addition to lighting innovations, Outbound has introduced HotBars, a heated handlebar system that allows riders to enjoy warmth without sacrificing their choice of grips. Unlike traditional heated grips, HotBars provide heat along the entire handlebar and integrate seamlessly with handlebar-mounted batteries, including those powering Outbound’s own lights. Available in eight sizes, these carbon fibre bars cannot be cut due to embedded electronics but offer a year-round solution for cold-weather riding. The product impressed visitors at Sea Otter with its rapid heating and thoughtful design, promising enhanced comfort on chilly rides. Other notable accessories include the Smith Forefront 3 light and accessory mount, which offers a practical solution for helmet lighting with its GoPro-style and bar mount adapters. Meanwhile, Lezyne’s Road Drive 500 light delivers a compact, high-output option for road cyclists, offering up to 500 lumens in a slim, credit card-sized package. Its long battery life, multiple brightness modes, and compatibility with external power packs make it a versatile choice for riders seeking both visibility and endurance. These new products collectively underscore a growing trend towards integrated, user-friendly electronic solutions that extend riding time and improve safety across cycling disciplines.
