VinFast Launches The Limo Green In India, Renames It The MPV7

Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast has launched the VF MPV7 in India, repositioning its previously fleet-oriented Limo Green model as a premium multi-purpose vehicle aimed at family buyers. While the MPV7 shares its platform with the Limo Green, VinFast emphasises that it is not merely a rebadged version but a more upscale offering comparable to its flagship VF9. This move reflects the company’s strategy to bridge commercial and private mobility sectors in India’s rapidly expanding electric vehicle market. The MPV7 is a midsize, three-row electric vehicle measuring approximately 4.7 metres in length, designed to maximise interior space and comfort. It features flexible seating arrangements, a flat floor enabled by its dedicated EV platform, and a host of convenience features such as a 10.1-inch infotainment screen with smartphone connectivity and over-the-air updates. Powered by a 60.13 kWh battery and a single motor producing around 204 PS, the MPV7 offers a claimed range of up to 517 kilometres and supports fast charging from 10 to 70 percent in about 30 minutes, making it suitable for both private and fleet use. VinFast has enhanced the MPV7’s appeal to private customers by upgrading interior materials to leatherette, adding features like an air purifier and multiple USB-C ports, and extending warranty coverage to up to ten years for the battery. Safety equipment includes electronic stability and traction control, hill hold assist, multiple airbags, and advanced braking systems. The company’s CEO in India, Tapan Ghosh, highlighted that the vehicle is designed to meet the needs of large families seeking spacious, comfortable, and cost-effective electric transport. The launch of the MPV7 marks VinFast Auto India’s third product introduction within a year, signalling the brand’s growing commitment to the Indian EV market. By leveraging an existing platform optimised for durability and cost efficiency, VinFast aims to reduce development risks and accelerate market entry. The MPV7 is positioned in the mid-range electric vehicle segment, targeting buyers who might otherwise opt for internal combustion engine MPVs or entry-level electric SUVs, and is expected to benefit from upcoming local manufacturing to improve price competitiveness. VinFast’s pragmatic approach focuses on practicality and affordability rather than high-performance or luxury features, aligning with Indian consumers’ preference for functional vehicles that accommodate large families and shared transport. The MPV7’s repositioning underscores the company’s intent to expand beyond fleet customers and capture a broader share of India’s growing electric mobility landscape.
