The New Xtracycle OmniTierra is a Titanium, Gearbox, Belt-Drive Cargo Adventure Bike

Summary By: eMotoX
Xtracycle has unveiled the OmniTierra, a distinctive titanium-framed, non-electric cargo bike designed in collaboration with adventure cyclist John Freeman and Priority Bicycles. The bike is tailored for long-distance bikepacking, reflecting Freeman’s extensive experience riding over 120,000km across 15 countries with his dog, Mira, often accompanying him in the rear cargo basket. The OmniTierra aims to combine durability, comfort, and versatility, making it suitable for extended tours and carrying both gear and a canine passenger. The frame’s titanium construction ensures a lightweight yet robust build, featuring a mid-tail cargo design with an extended rear end to enhance stability and accommodate a heavy-duty rack rated for up to 27kg. This capacity comfortably supports a medium-sized dog alongside essential bikepacking equipment. The frame also offers numerous mounting points for bags and accessories, while its geometry prioritises rider comfort during long rides, with moderate reach and stack measurements and a relaxed head tube angle. Versatility is a key attribute of the OmniTierra, with clearance for tyres up to 29 x 2.4 inches on the stock build and compatibility with fat bike tyres up to 26 x 4 inches for more challenging terrain or winter conditions. An adjustable dropout system allows for wheel size variation and drivetrain compatibility, while the option to swap the suspension fork for a fat bike fork further expands its adaptability. Demonstrations at Sea Otter showed the bike’s surprisingly light feel and intuitive handling, even with the longer rear end and fat tyres fitted. The drivetrain combines a Pinion C1.12 12-speed gearbox with wireless shifting and a Gates CDX carbon belt drive, delivering a wide 600% gear range and minimal maintenance requirements. The belt drive is quieter and more durable than a traditional chain, while the sealed gearbox demands only an oil change every 10,000km, making the setup ideal for rugged, long-distance use. This low-maintenance system aligns with the bike’s adventure-ready ethos. Priced at $6,699 with a pre-order discount available until the end of May, the OmniTierra is expected to begin shipping in November 2026. It comes equipped with a Fox 34 SL Performance fork and 29-inch wheels, weighing approximately 19kg (42 pounds) in the large size. Interested riders can find further details and order the bike through Xtracycle’s website, while following Freeman and Mira’s journeys provides insight into the bike’s real-world capabilities.
