Strider Introduces 4.9 lb Composite-Framed 12 Comp Balance Bike

Strider has unveiled its latest balance bike, the 12 Comp, marking the company’s first new model since 2017. Designed specifically for toddlers aged one to three years, the 12 Comp features 12-inch wheels and a lightweight composite frame, weighing just 4.9 pounds. This new frame, made from durable nylon composite, aims to make the bike easy for young children to handle, encouraging early independence and balance development. The 12 Comp includes several child-friendly design elements, such as standing footrests to help kids learn to cruise without support and a frame geometry tailored to balance stability with manoeuvrability. The bike comes equipped with Ultralight Wheels made from EVA-polymer foam rubber, which are suitable for both indoor and outdoor use and are puncture-proof. For more advanced riders, Strider offers optional High-Traction Wheels with pneumatic tyres and sealed bearing hubs, available in six different colours. Additional features include appropriately sized handlebars and an adjustable seat with a snap-to-adjust clip, accommodating inseams from 12 to 16 inches and a maximum rider weight of 45 pounds. The handlebars have a fixed height of 19 inches, while the seat height can be adjusted between 11 and 15 inches. Assembly is straightforward and reportedly takes only a few minutes. Strider also offers a rocking base accessory that converts the 12 Comp into a rocking horse, providing a safe way for infants to familiarise themselves with the bike before they are ready to ride. The 12 Comp is available in a variety of vibrant colours including blue, orange, pink, purple, and teal, with a retail price of $139.99. This latest release reinforces Strider’s commitment to encouraging early cycling skills through innovative, child-centric design.
