Hyundai Motor Introduces IONIQ 3: Aero Hatch Elevates EV Technology for Simple, Spacious, & Intuitive Mobility

Summary By: eMotoX
Hyundai Motor has unveiled the IONIQ 3, a fully electric compact hatchback designed to meet the practical and stylistic demands of everyday European drivers. The new model introduces the “Aero Hatch” body style, which prioritises aerodynamic efficiency alongside spaciousness, resulting in a sleek silhouette with a drag coefficient of 0.263. This design innovation enhances interior comfort, particularly for rear passengers, by maximising headroom and offering a flat-floor layout that supports genuine five-seat accommodation. Built on Hyundai’s Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) with a 400-volt architecture, the IONIQ 3 offers two battery options: a Standard Range with a WLTP-estimated 344 km and a Long Range targeting 496 km. The vehicle supports fast DC charging from 10 to 80 per cent in approximately 29 minutes and includes AC charging capabilities up to 22 kW, aiming to balance efficiency with everyday usability. Practicality is further emphasised by a generous 441-litre boot space, enhanced by an integrated Megabox storage solution. The IONIQ 3 marks the European debut of Hyundai’s Pleos Connect infotainment system, based on Android Automotive OS. Available with either a 12.9-inch or 14.6-inch display, this system offers an intuitive user interface, sharp graphics, and extensive customisation options. Additional technological features include Hyundai Digital Key 2 for keyless access, Plug & Charge functionality, an integrated EV route planner, and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capabilities, all designed to simplify electric vehicle ownership and enhance connectivity. Hyundai’s ‘Art of Steel’ design philosophy is evident in the IONIQ 3’s clean, precise surfaces and signature pixel lighting, with subtle nods to the brand such as Morse code-inspired detailing. Customers can personalise their vehicle with a choice of eleven exterior colours, multiple interior finishes, and wheel sizes ranging from 16 to 19 inches. The sportier IONIQ 3 N Line variant adds dynamic styling elements to appeal to those seeking a more performance-oriented aesthetic. Xavier Martinet, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor Europe, emphasised the model’s focus on everyday usability and broad appeal, highlighting its combination of driving range, aerodynamics, and spaciousness. The IONIQ 3 is positioned to expand Hyundai’s electric offering in Europe by delivering a practical, comfortable, and technologically advanced EV that caters to families and urban drivers alike, signalling a significant step forward in the brand’s electrification strategy.
