Lucas Coenen on Arco: “The track doesn’t really suit my style”

Lucas Coenen faced a demanding weekend at the Arco di Trento circuit, acknowledging that the technical nature of the track does not complement his riding style. Despite aiming for a top-five finish, mistakes during both motos complicated his race, including two crashes in the first and a fall in the second. Nevertheless, Coenen remained positive, emphasising the importance of finishing the weekend healthy and accumulating valuable championship points amid challenging conditions. The second moto proved especially frustrating for Coenen, as a minor error while leading cost him crucial momentum and track position. He reflected on the experience with a pragmatic outlook, recognising that consistency and damage limitation on tougher weekends are vital for success over the course of the season. Coenen’s focus now shifts to recovery and preparation during the upcoming break, with a determination to improve his performance as the championship progresses. Coenen also commented on the high calibre of competition at Arco, highlighting the dominance of established frontrunners such as Jeffrey Herlings and Tim Gajser, both of whom have a strong track record at the venue. Despite the fierce rivalry on track, he acknowledged the mutual respect among riders and the challenge of competing against such accomplished opponents. Coenen accepted that finishing close to these top riders was a realistic expectation given the circumstances.
