Mikula flew around the podium at the World Championship!

Julius Mikula delivered a standout performance at the fifth round of the Motocross World Championship in Trentino, Italy, achieving a career-best fourth place in the MX2 class. The event, held on the challenging hardpack track in Pietramurata, saw Mikula build on his promising form from previous rounds. After securing sixth place in the opening race, he impressed in the second by holding second position for much of the race and narrowly missing out on a maiden World Championship podium by just 1.624 seconds. His strong showing marked a significant moment for Czech motocross, which has not seen a rider reach such heights in over twenty years. Mikula’s performance earned him 34 points, lifting him to 11th in the overall standings and just one point shy of the top ten. Reflecting on the weekend, Mikula described the experience as one of the best of his life, praising the supportive atmosphere created by the fans and the crucial role played by his team and family. Osička MX Team owner Martin Osička expressed his excitement at Mikula’s progress, emphasising that while the result was a milestone, the team remains focused on pushing even further in upcoming rounds. Meanwhile, Václav Janout competed in the EMX250 European Championship at the same venue but was hampered by misfortune despite showing good speed. After a solid qualifying performance, Janout’s race was disrupted by a crash and poor starts, resulting in lower finishing positions than expected. He acknowledged that the weekend’s results did not reflect his true potential but remained optimistic about areas for improvement with the support of his team and family. Looking ahead, the MXGP series will take a break before resuming in France at Lacapelle-Marival, a track that suits Mikula’s riding style. With his current momentum, the upcoming round presents a genuine opportunity for Mikula to secure a historic podium finish for Czech motocross.
