Sleny Goyer Returns to the EMX125 Podium with Third Overall in Italy
Summary By: eMotoX
Sleny Goyer secured a strong third overall finish at the EMX125 round in Pietramurata, Italy, marking a return to the podium for the MJC Yamaha Official EMX125 Team rider. Building on his recent maiden race win in Sardegna, Goyer showed versatility by adapting from the deep sand to the hardpack surface, posting the second-fastest qualifying time. His performance across the two races demonstrated consistent pace and determination, ultimately allowing him to maintain third place in the championship standings.
In the opening race, Goyer started among the leaders and engaged in a close battle for second place, eventually overtaking Bertram Thorius midway through the race. Despite the leader remaining out of reach, Goyer held onto second position with impressive speed. The second race presented more challenges, including slick track conditions following overnight rain and a difficult start that saw him drop back. Nevertheless, Goyer fought his way up the field, narrowly avoiding a collision with a backmarker on the final lap to finish sixth, which was enough to secure his overall podium spot.
Meanwhile, the EMX250 class experienced setbacks for the VHR Yamaha Official Team. Mano Faure suffered a crash in the first turn of Race One and, after a further incident, sustained a fractured right ankle that ended his weekend prematurely. His teammate Jarne Bervoets was also absent due to injuries sustained in a previous crash in Sardegna. These incidents highlight the physical demands and risks of the championship, as well as the challenges faced by the Yamaha team.
With the Italian round complete, both the EMX125 and EMX250 championships will take a brief hiatus before resuming later in May. The EMX125 series is set to continue on May 24 in France, followed by the EMX250 round in Germany a week later. This pause offers riders a chance to recover and prepare for the next phase of the season, where the battle for championship positions will intensify.
