Colnago has introduced the C72, the latest addition to its prestigious C Series of bicycle frames, unveiled at Milan’s historic Teatro alla Scala. This new model pays homage to the brand’s rich heritage, associated with cycling legends such as Eddy Merckx and Tadej Pogačar, and showcases a blend of traditional craftsmanship and modern innovation. The C72 features a redesigned lug system, an integrated CC.02 cockpit with an aerodynamic seatpost, and a bespoke bottle cage with a concealed storage compartment, all aimed at enhancing performance and rider comfort. Hand-built in Cambiago, Italy, the C72 embodies Colnago’s ‘Perfectly Composed’ philosophy, which emphasises multi-piece construction over the prevalent monocoque frame design. This approach allows for meticulous tuning of stiffness, compliance, and force distribution, resulting in a frame that balances responsiveness, stability, and precision. Colnago highlights the bike’s exceptional front-end stability and sharp handling, designed to inspire confidence across various riding conditions without compromising control or comfort. The C72 is available in four distinct colourways, ranging from classic black to dual-tone blue, with a frame kit priced from €6,780 (£6,299). Production is limited to 3,000 units annually, underscoring its exclusivity. Alongside the standard model, Colnago has launched an ultra-limited edition, the C72 La Scala, inspired by the opera house’s iconic red, gold, and white palette. Only 72 of these numbered frames will be produced, each commanding a premium price of €22,000 (£19,000). The launch of the C72 reaffirms Colnago’s commitment to a deliberate, artisanal approach in an era dominated by mass-produced monocoque frames. By blending heritage craftsmanship with contemporary design, the brand aims to deliver a unique riding experience that emphasises harmony between frame elements and rider demands.
