Thule has introduced the Widesky, a rooftop tent that combines the spaciousness of vertical-opening models with the ease of a clamshell design. This lightweight hard-shell tent opens fully from the rear, allowing occupants to sit up comfortably without the usual front corner restrictions. The tent’s mechanism is straightforward: releasing a few latches triggers an automatic pop-up, and closing it is as simple as pulling a cord, with the fabric neatly tucking itself away inside the shell. Designed with premium features, the Widesky offers versatility beyond typical rooftop tents. Its bed can be converted into a couch by pulling two cords, creating a lounge area with large openings on the back and sides for panoramic views. The interior is equipped with dimmable LED lights powered via USB, and multiple pockets provide convenient storage for personal items, enhancing the camping experience with practical touches. Despite its comprehensive features, the Widesky remains relatively lightweight at 147 pounds, comparable to many ultralight rooftop tents that often sacrifice space and comfort. It comfortably accommodates two adults, boasting a sleeping area of 79 by 51 inches and an interior height of approximately 49 inches, making it one of the roomier options in its class.
