Subaru reveals pricing and specs for Trailseeker, its second EV in Australia

Summary By: eMotoX
Subaru has unveiled the pricing and specifications for its new Trailseeker electric SUV, marking the brand’s second battery electric vehicle offering in Australia. The Trailseeker will be available in two variants: the entry-level AWD priced from $67,990 before on-road costs, and the premium Touring variant at $73,990. Both models feature an all-wheel-drive system powered by dual electric motors delivering a combined 280 kW, enabling the SUV to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in approximately 4.4 seconds, making it Subaru’s fastest SUV to date. The Trailseeker is equipped with a 74.7 kWh lithium-ion battery sourced from CATL, providing an estimated driving range of up to 533 km under the WLTP cycle for the AWD model, while the Touring variant offers slightly less at 488 km. It supports DC fast charging at up to 150 kW, allowing the battery to charge from 10 to 80 per cent in around 30 minutes. Additionally, the vehicle includes a vehicle-to-load (V2L) function with a 1.5 kW output, enabling users to power external devices when stationary. Ground clearance is set at 211 mm, complemented by off-road features such as dual-mode X-Mode and downhill assist control, underscoring Subaru’s focus on versatility and rugged capability. Inside, the Trailseeker blends modern technology with user-friendly controls, featuring a 14-inch infotainment touchscreen alongside a 7-inch LCD driver display. The interior is finished with synthetic leather in the base model, while the Touring variant upgrades to premium leather with ventilated front seats, a panoramic glass roof, and a Harman Kardon sound system. Safety is prioritised through Subaru’s latest Safety Sense suite, which includes advanced driver assistance technologies such as blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and a 360-degree panoramic view monitor. Scott Lawrence, General Manager of Subaru Australia, highlighted the Trailseeker’s combination of performance, practicality, and off-road capability, describing it as a vehicle that maintains composure and control both on highways and challenging Australian terrain. The new model’s styling takes a step closer to the Forester, aiming to attract a broader audience by bridging the gap between traditional internal combustion engine SUVs and electric vehicles. The Trailseeker is expected to arrive in Australian showrooms within the coming months, with pre-orders already open through Subaru’s website and dealerships.
