XCharge and JOJO launch 9 new public EV charging sites in Chicagoland

Summary By: eMotoX
XCharge North America and JOJO Superfast EV Charging have announced a partnership to establish nine new public electric vehicle charging sites across the Chicagoland area. These locations will be situated at Menards home improvement stores throughout Illinois, collectively offering 800 kW of ultra-fast charging capacity. The collaboration aims to expand the region’s EV infrastructure significantly, with two sites already operational in Crestwood and Bridgeview, and the remaining seven expected to launch by the end of the year. Each charging site will be equipped with four C6 Smart DC Fast Chargers, delivering a total of eight charging ports per location. XCharge North America is responsible for manufacturing the charging units and managing the entire site development process, from initial design through to completion. This turnkey approach ensures a streamlined rollout of the new stations, which are designed to meet the growing demand for rapid and reliable EV charging in suburban and urban areas. Joe Sheehan, CEO of JOJO Superfast, highlighted the importance of this expansion in addressing range anxiety, particularly for residents on Chicago’s South Side. He emphasised JOJO’s ambition to create the most accessible ultra-fast charging network in Illinois, crediting XCharge’s advanced technology as a critical factor in achieving this goal. The partnership reflects a broader push to enhance EV infrastructure and support the increasing adoption of electric vehicles in the region. The deployment of these new charging sites at Menards locations not only improves convenience for EV drivers but also signals a strategic move to integrate fast charging into everyday retail environments. As the network grows, it is expected to encourage more drivers to switch to electric vehicles by alleviating concerns over charging availability and speed. This initiative forms part of a wider effort to accelerate the transition to sustainable transportation in the Midwest.
