Ineos Grenadiers trialling hybrid wireless MTB groupset for Paris-Roubaix, but not for the reason you might expect

Ineos Grenadiers are experimenting with a hybrid wireless mountain bike groupset for the upcoming Paris-Roubaix, marking a notable departure from conventional road bike setups typically seen in the race. Their configuration combines Shimano Dura-Ace road shifters with a 1x front setup featuring a chain tensioner, paired with the new wireless Shimano XTR rear derailleur and a road cassette. This innovative mix aims to leverage the durability and adaptability of mountain bike components while maintaining the shifting precision expected in elite road racing. The choice of the XTR rear derailleur is particularly significant due to its wireless design and mechanical robustness.
