News: YT DECOY X – YT’s first eMTB powered by Avinox
Summary By: eMotoX
YT has expanded its DECOY range with the introduction of the DECOY X, the brand’s first aluminium e-mountain bike powered by the Avinox M2S motor. Priced at €8,499, the new model offers substantial power, boasting up to 150 Nm of torque and a peak output of 1,300 W. Positioned between the lightweight DECOY SN and the more downhill-oriented DECOY MX, the DECOY X aims to balance durability and high performance, marking a significant step for YT following a challenging year that included a US market withdrawal and financial difficulties.
The DECOY X Launch Edition comes with a fixed specification that prioritises robustness and capability over customisation. Key components include a FOX Podium Factory upside-down fork and FLOAT X2 Factory shock, delivering 170 mm of front and 160 mm of rear travel. The bike’s 800 Wh battery is seamlessly integrated into the aluminium frame’s down tube, and it benefits from Avinox’s fast-charging technology, replenishing the battery in just over two hours. Complementing the drivetrain and suspension are SRAM X0 Transmission gearing, SRAM MAVEN Silver brakes with large rotors, and DT Swiss HX 1500 wheels, all designed to withstand demanding trail conditions.
YT’s choice of an aluminium frame rather than carbon fibre reflects a focus on toughness and longevity, with hydroformed tubing and a Virtual 4 Link suspension system underpinning the bike’s rugged character. Practical touches include internal cable routing, ample space for standard water bottles, and a clever tool integration at the rear axle that allows wheel removal without additional equipment. The frame geometry is adjustable via a flip chip to switch between a “Regular” and a “Low” setting, altering the bike’s handling characteristics to favour either ground clearance or a more aggressive descending posture.
The DECOY X weighs in at 25.4 kg for a size small, making it noticeably heavier than some competitors but aligning with its emphasis on strength and trail readiness. Available in five frame sizes to accommodate a wide range of riders, the bike is designed to deliver a confident, descent-focused ride experience. While pre-orders are open, YT has yet to confirm delivery timelines, with additional Core models expected later in the summer.
With the DECOY X, YT presents a compelling option for riders seeking a powerful, durable eMTB that bridges the gap between lightweight trail bikes and more aggressive downhill machines. Its competitive pricing and robust specification suggest it could attract those prioritising performance and reliability over weight savings. Further hands-on testing will be awaited to fully assess how the DECOY X performs on the trail.
