BMC Resurrects the Twostroke
Summary By: eMotoX
BMC has revived its Twostroke hardtail mountain bike, a model that originally debuted in 2020 as a successor to the Teamelite and sat alongside the full-suspension Fourstroke. After quietly disappearing from the brand’s US website in recent years, the Twostroke returns with updated geometry and technical enhancements while maintaining its reputation as a versatile machine capable of excelling in cross-country racing and long-distance riding. The Swiss manufacturer positions the Twostroke 01 as a do-it-all bike that balances performance and comfort for a wide range of riders.
Key changes to the Twostroke 01 include a 10mm increase in reach across all sizes and a slightly lower standover height, alongside a steeper seat tube angle and a 66° head tube angle. The bike is designed around a 110mm travel fork but can accommodate forks ranging from 100mm to 120mm, providing flexibility to suit rider preferences. Available in four sizes from small to extra-large, the frame geometry and tube profiles have been refined to optimise power transfer and rider comfort, aiming to deliver efficient pedalling performance over varied terrain.
BMC has also introduced practical updates such as a D-shaped seatpost that offers additional compliance without sacrificing the option to fit a dropper post, thanks to a compatible adapter system. Cable routing has been improved with fully integrated paths and relocated ports at the head tube to simplify installation and maintenance. The Twostroke 01 is now compatible with SRAM’s Universal Derailleur Hanger (UDH) standard and uses direct mount derailleurs, supporting a wide range of chainring sizes and a 55mm chainline, further enhancing drivetrain versatility.
Although detailed specifications remain limited, the Twostroke 01 is listed with a SRAM GX AXS 1x12 electronic groupset and a price tag of $6,199. Visual clues from official images suggest the bike is equipped with a RockShox SID fork, Vittoria Mezcal tyres, and SRAM Motive brakes, reinforcing its focus on lightweight, race-ready cross-country performance. Interested riders can find further information on BMC’s US website, where the brand has made the new Twostroke available for the North American market.
