VinFast Rolls Out EV Rental Program For Drivers In Indonesia & The Philippines
Summary By: eMotoX
VinFast has launched a new electric vehicle rental programme aimed at transport and ride-hailing drivers in Indonesia and the Philippines. This initiative supplements the company’s existing vehicle purchase options by offering a rental model that reduces the upfront financial burden for drivers. Through authorised dealerships, drivers can access VinFast’s Green vehicle lineup, including the Herio Green and Limo Green models, which are specifically designed for commercial use with a focus on durability, efficiency, and passenger comfort.
The rental scheme features a low initial deposit, long-term contracts, and fixed daily rates starting at IDR 312,500 in Indonesia and PHP 1,000 in the Philippines. This pricing structure enables drivers to begin operating with minimal capital investment, addressing the challenge of fluctuating fuel costs and providing a more predictable expense framework. VinFast continues to offer financing options for those who prefer to own their vehicles outright, with repayment plans tailored to align with drivers’ expected income streams.
VinFast’s rollout initially targets major urban centres such as Greater Jakarta and Metro Manila, with plans to expand as the programme gains traction. Drivers and fleet operators participating in the scheme will benefit from access to VinFast’s regional charging network, including complimentary charging at V-Green stations until March 2029, which is expected to further reduce operational costs. This infrastructure support is a critical element in encouraging the adoption of electric vehicles within the commercial transport sector.
Duong Thi Thu Trang, Deputy CEO of Global Automotive Sales at VinFast, highlighted the broader significance of the programme, emphasising its role in advancing the green transition of commercial transport while supporting sustainable livelihoods for drivers. She noted that the initiative not only helps drivers secure stable income but also contributes to improved environmental outcomes and enhanced quality of life. The rental scheme forms part of Vingroup’s wider regional strategy, which includes additional incentives such as the Trade Gas for Electric programme and promotional discounts for electric ride services in Indonesia, all aimed at accelerating the shift to electric mobility in the region.
